OPHTHALMOLOGY NURSE MANAGER

POSITION OVERVIEW

Working under the direction of the Medical Director and Nurse Director, the Ophthalmology Nurse Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and management of clinical operations in the BASC Eye Institute within the ASC.  This role requires expertise in perioperative services and a strong working knowledge of accredited ASC environments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide leadership and operational oversight of all clinical areas, including preoperative, intraoperative and PACU services
• Ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care in accordance with established clinical standards and regulatory requirements
• Supervise, train, and evaluate nursing and clinical staff; ensure ongoing competency and active licensure compliance
• Collaborate with surgeons and anesthesia providers to coordinate surgical scheduling and optimize workflow efficiency
• Ensure compliance with AAAHC, OSHA, CMS, HIPAA and state regulations
• Lead Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement and infection prevention and control programs
• Oversee clinical inventory, supply management, vendor relationships and departmental budgeting
• Develop, implement and maintain clinical policies, procedures, and emergency preparedness plans
• Serve as a liaison between administration and clinical staff to support efficient, patient-centered operations.
• Participate in management Team meetings

QUALIFICATIONS

• Active state License (RN)
• Minimum of 3 years ophthalmology perioperative nursing experience, preferable some in leadership role
• Current BLS and ACLS certification
• Knowledge of AAAHC Standards and ASC regulatory requirements
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational and critical thinking skills
